They wake us in the morning, remind us not to forget our umbrellas, warn us of traffic jams, send greetings from Auntie Isabelle, give advice on a healthy lifestyle, and amuse us when we are bored. We are not talking about mothers or personal assistants, but the little applications on our smartphones, the ones we call apps.
In qualitative interviews and online diaries we explored the psychological drivers of the app boom and gathered user insights in connection with the digital nannies which increasingly rule our everyday lives.
